· Perth FAQ ·

Traveling to Perth is best done by air. We’re a popular tourist destination with close to a million international visitiors a year.

Fly in to:
Perth Airport (PER): Fly in to one of 4 terminals, we call these T1, T2, T3 and T4.

To get from the airport to your accommodation there are several options:

Driving
Ride share services Uber or Didi are popular.  We also have a safe taxi system, (Swan or Black & White).  Taxis maybe cheaper than ride share services.  Rates on taxis are fixed by government regulation by destination/distance.  Do not haggle!

By Train
To get to the city from Perth Airport by train, take the Airport Line from Airport Central Station (connected to Terminals 1 and 2 via a skybridge) to Perth Station in the CBD, a journey of approximately 18 minutes.

Terminals 1 and 2: Follow signs to “Public Transportation” to reach Airport Central Station.
Airport Central Station: Take the Airport Line train to Perth Station.

Terminals 3 and 4: If you arrive at T3 or T4, take the free terminal transfer bus to the bus station outside T4, then take bus 292 to Redcliffe Station, and then transfer to the Airport Line train to Perth Station.

Train Fares: A one-way adult fare is roughly $4-$5, with discounts available for SmartRider users and concession card holders.
Frequency: Trains run frequently, check the timetable online or at the station.

Bus.
Safe, however we would not recommend based on how slow they are.

No matter how you choose to get here, Perth is ready to welcome you with open arms!

Getting around Perth is easy, with plenty of transportation options to suit your needs!

Walking is a great way to explore the downtown area, where many of the city’s famous attractions, restaurants, and bars are situated conveniently close together.

Once in Perth, the city’s bus system (Transperth) is efficient for getting around. There are two main stations, both with easy rail access.

CAT buses are free!  These loop around the city on different routes, hop on and off as much as you desire.

Consider buying a Smartrider pass for use on the public transport if you plan to explore the city extensively.

You can also rent a scooter in the city, giving you a fun, eco-friendly way to navigate the city.

Hotels, AirBNB & Hostels.

When choosing where to stay in Perth, you might consider the following options.  The play area will be near or in the central business area of Perth.

Prices can range quite a lot like most cities.  AirBNB and Stayz are popular online booking apps for accomodation.

The following hotels are suggested based on location, prices and reviews:

Oaks Perth Hotel

Located very close to the train station, (1 min walk).  Another mid price hotel with reasonable reviews.

The Great Southern Hotel (north)
Well priced mid range hotel with good reviews, located 17min walk from the central train station.

ibis Perth
Also 1 minute walk from the train station.  Part of the popular ibis chain, very resonably priced.

Perth is generally a safe city for visitors, with a vibrant cultural scene and community life. However, like all urban areas, it has its challenges, and awareness of one’s surroundings is key.
Pickpockets are not really an issue, however be aware of rough sleepers in isolated areas.

In case of Emergency the number to call is 000 (zero zero zero) for Police, Ambulance or Fire.

Perth offers a range of attractions that blend history, culture, and modern innovation. Here’s a list of must-see sights and experiences:

The West Australian Museum
Kings Park
Perth Zoo
The Shipwrecks Museum
Fishing Boat Harbor
It takes at least a  whole day, however Rottnest Island is well worth a visit.

There’s much more to see! Ask a local for tips or check the WA Tourism website.

You bet! Check Kings Park on Intel for uniques.  The city center has 100’s portals with free CAT busses to loop the city. The University of Western Australia also is reachable easily by bus. Increase your Explorer and Pioneer medals!

Also check out bannergress to find more Mission Banners!

You can visit the official Destination Perth or Visit Perth website for much more information on our wonderful city.  Our locals will also be happy to offer visitor advice.

It will be winter in Perth.  June tends to be cold but mostly dry.  Typical day wear would be jeans, tshirt and a jacket.  If particuly cold, a fleece or pullover is recommended.  Temperatures likely to be from below 10C at night and high teens to low 20’s during the day.  It may rain!

Food safety is moderated by the government and is safe.  You would have to be very unlucky to find bad food.  The tap water is safe to drink untreated.

Our customs laws are very strict on what can be bought to Australia.  You will be presented with a declaration card which must be filled in.  This is a legal document.  For full details on what you can and cannot bring to Australia we recommend you closely check the Borderforce web site.

If you want to enter hassle free, and not worry too much, just bring your passport, visa if required, money and clothes. Oh, and your Ingress kit!
